Ty Montgomery disappointed in his chance at lead-back duties for the Packers last year. He averaged just 3.8 yards per carry and missed 8 games with injuries. But he's still set to play a significant role in Green Bay's 2018 offense, ESPN's Rob Demovsky confirms. Montgomery showed well in OTAs and "didn't appear to lose any ground" to RBs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams, according to Demovsky. Montgomery averaged 5.9 yards per carry and caught 44 balls in more of a change-of-pace role back in 2016. He finished that season 33rd among RBs in PPR points. There's certainly room for him to return to that type of production this season. And Montgomery is being selected just 47th among RBs in recent best-ball drafts.
The Packers have placed RB Ty Montgomery on IR, ending his 2017 season. He got off to a rocking start, with 253 yards and 3 TDs in his first 3 games. But he suffered a rib injury in the 4th that's hampered him ever since. Montgomery is also dealing with a wrist injury that requires surgery, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He should be fine for the offseason program, but Montgomery will need to fight for a 2018 role in Green Bay's young, crowded backfield.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) is out for this weekend's game against the Bucs. He's yet to practice since re-injuring his ribs on November 12 and has no timetable for return. We'll see if RB Aaron Jones (knee) is able to play on Sunday.
Packers RBs Ty Montgomery (ribs) and Aaron Jones (knee) remained sidelined on Wednesday. Neither guy looks like a particularly good bet to play against the Bucs this weekend. That'd leave Jamaal Williams in a feature-back role again. He's played 85.4% of Green Bay’s snaps and racked up 39 carries and 11 targets over the past 2 weeks.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) is inactive for tonight’s game against the Steelers. He didn’t practice all week and wasn't particularly close to playing. Consider him questionable for Week 13. With RB Aaron Jones (knee) also out, Jamaal Williams gets another game as Green Bay’s feature back. He carried 18 times and saw 6 targets last week.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) is doubtful for Sunday night’s game against the Steelers. He didn’t practice all week and won’t play. With RB Aaron Jones (knee) also out, Jamaal Williams gets another game as Green Bay’s feature back. That has him in the RB2 mix, despite the difficult matchup.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) remained sidelined on Wednesday. At this point, fantasy owners should be operating under the assumption that Montgomery won't play against the Steelers on Sunday night. That'd make Jamaal Williams the Packers' feature back again. He played 88% of the snaps last week, racking up 18 carries and 6 targets.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) didn’t practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game against the Ravens. There’s no timetable for his return, but HC Mike McCarthy did say Friday that he doesn’t think Montgomery’s injury is a “long-term concern.” With RB Aaron Jones (knee) also out, Jamaal Williams is a volume-based RB2 option for Week 11.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. He's looking like a long shot to play against the Ravens this weekend. With Montgomery and Aaron Jones out, Jamaal Williams is a good bet for 15+ touches. He's in the RB2 mix, despite a negative matchup.
Packers HC Mike McCarthy said Monday that RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) "has a chance" to play against the Ravens this weekend. McCarthy added that Montgomery is still going through tests but had no other details on his status. We'll keep a close eye on him throughout this week.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery suffered a rib injury in the 1st half of Sunday's game in Chicago and is done for the day. This is presumably related to the rib issue that cost him a game back in October, but we should learn more over the next 24 hours. With RB Aaron Jones out with a knee injury, Jamaal Williams is left as Green Bay's lead back.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) is active for today’s game against the Vikings. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported this morning that Montgomery “is not expected to be limited going in.” But NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport hears that he’ll split carries with RB Aaron Jones. Montgomery seems like the better bet for pass-catching work. Both guys are risk/reward fantasy plays.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) is expected to play against the Vikings today and that he "is not expected to be limited going in." It's the most optimistic report we've heard yet. Montgomery will still be at risk of an in-game setback. And it's unclear how much RB Aaron Jones will eat into his workload. But Montgomery now looks like the best Week 6 fantasy bet in Green Bay's backfield.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Vikings. He put in a full week of practice, though, and signs point to him playing. The bigger question is Montgomery’s workload with the rib injury and RB Aaron Jones’ emergence. Consider Montgomery and Jones both risk/reward RB2s for Week 6.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) was again listed as a full participant on Thursday. This workout, unlike Wednesday's, was in full pads. Montgomery told reporters afterward that he "felt fine" and that he feels "comfortable" after taking some contact. It sure sounds like he's on track to play against the Vikings this weekend. We'll get another update tomorrow.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) was listed as a full participant in Wednesday's practice. That would seemingly put him on track for this weekend's game vs. the Vikings, but insider Jason Wilde tweeted that there's "no guarantee he plays." There's likely still concern about Montgomery's ability to absorb contact with those broken ribs. We'll continue to track his status over the next few days.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) is inactive for today’s game against the Cowboys. His absence leaves the backfield to Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams. Jones reportedly got the 1st-team work in practice this week and is the preferred fantasy play.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. He was limited in practice all week, but it looks like Green Bay is going to (wisely) hold him out. We’ll see if he can get ready for Week 6. RB Jamaal Williams (knee), meanwhile, put in a full week of practice and will play vs. Dallas. He’s been ahead of Aaron Jones on the depth chart all year, but we’re expecting something close to a 50/50 split on Sunday. It makes both guys risk/reward RB3s.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery was on the practice field for the start of Wednesday's practice. ESPN's Rob Demovsky notes that Montgomery was sporting "significant protection" over his injured ribs. Whether he plays against Dallas this weekend will likely depend on how he feels throughout the practice week. RB Jamaal Williams (knee) also practiced on Wednesday.
Packers RB Ty Montgomery confirmed in a Monday radio appearance that he has multiple broken ribs. He also admitted that he's iffy for this weekend's game against the Cowboys. "I'm going to do my best to try to be out there," Montgomery said. "But of course, I have to be wary of risking something more serious. I don't want to puncture any internal organs ... I'm feeling a lot better than I felt on Thursday. I can laugh now, I can sleep now. My movement's fine. It's just a matter of, is it going to be safe enough for me to be out there and not risk internal injury? That's the conversation I'm trying to have now." Earlier reports had Montgomery "day-to-day," but he seems no better than 50/50 to play this Sunday. We'll monitor him throughout the week.
